संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने शुक्रवार को दुनिया के एक नए नक्शे को पास को किया है। इसमें पुराने मर्केटर वर्ल्ड मैप की जगह ऐसे नक्शे के इस्तेमाल को बढ़ावा दिया गया है, जिसमें देशों और महाद्वीपों का आकार उनके असली क्षेत्रफल के ज्यादा करीब दिखाई देता है। नए नक्शे में अफ्रीका पहले से काफी बड़ा, जबकि यूरोप और उत्तरी अमेरिका छोटे नजर आएंगे। एशिया के कुछ हिस्सों का आकार भी तुलनात्मक रूप से छोटा दिखेगा।

  

वर्ल्ड मैप में बदलाव को लेकर अफ्रीकी देश टोगो की तरफ से प्रस्ताव पेश किया गया। टोगो और अफ्रीकी यूनियन (AU) के सदस्यों के समर्थन वाले 'नक्शे को सही करें' नाम के प्रस्ताव को 164 देशों का समर्थन मिला है जिनमें फ्रांस और यूके भी शामिल थे। अमेरिका एकमात्र ऐसा देश था जिसने इसके खिलाफ वोट किया था और छह देशों ने वोटिंग में हिस्सा नहीं लिया। इस नक्शे में अफ्रीका को उसके मूल रूप में दिखाया गया है।

  

‘इक्वल अर्थ प्रोजेक्शन’ को अपनाने की अपील
इस नक्शे को इक्वल अर्थ प्रोजेक्शन के जरिए मापा गया है। इससे पहले मर्केटर मैप माना जाता था दरअसल, टोगो एक कैंपेन को लीड कर रहा था। टोगो इस कैंपेन के तहत दुनिया भर की सरकारों और संस्थाओं से पारंपरिक ‘मर्केटर प्रोजेक्शन’ को छोड़कर ‘इक्वल अर्थ प्रोजेक्शन’ को अपनाने का आग्रह किया।

  

क्या है ‘मर्केटर प्रोजेक्शन’?
मर्केटर प्रोजेक्शन के आधार पर नक्शे का इस्तेमाल 16वीं सदी से हो रहा है। समर्थकों और भूगोल-विशेषज्ञों का कहना है कि ‘इक्वल अर्थ’ नक्शा महाद्वीपों के सापेक्ष आकार और अनुपात को ज़्यादा सही ढंग से दिखाता है। ‘मर्केटर प्रोजेक्शन’ में ग्रीनलैंड का आकार अफ्रीका के लगभग बराबर दिखता है, जबकि असल में वह बहुत छोटा है। इसके उलट, ‘इक्वल अर्थ प्रोजेक्शन’ महाद्वीपों को ज़्यादा सही अनुपात में दिखाता है, जिसमें अफ्रीका को ग्रीनलैंड से लगभग 14 गुना बड़ा दिखाया गया है। हालांकि, यह प्रस्ताव ‘मर्केटर प्रोजेक्शन’ के इस्तेमाल पर रोक नहीं लगाता और न ही इसे बदलने के लिए मजबूर करता है।

क्या है भारत की राय?
वहीं, भारत ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा में उस प्रस्ताव के पक्ष में मतदान किया है, जिसका उद्देश्य दुनिया के नक्शे में महाद्वीपों के आकार को ज्यादा सही तरीके से दिखाना है। भारतीय राजनयिक रघु पुरी ने कहा कि भारत इस प्रस्ताव को समान-क्षेत्रफल वाले मानचित्र प्रोजेक्शन के व्यापक इस्तेमाल और विचार को बढ़ावा देने के रूप में देखता है। उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि भारत का समर्थन किसी एक विशेष प्रोजेक्शन, जिसमें ‘इक्वल अर्थ’ भी शामिल है, को आधिकारिक तौर पर अपनाने का समर्थन नहीं है। पुरी ने कहा कि अलग-अलग मानचित्र प्रोजेक्शन में किसी क्षेत्र के आकार को लेकर धारणा में अंतर पैदा हो सकता है। खासतौर पर ऐसे प्रोजेक्शन में, जिनका उद्देश्य आकार के बजाय भूगोल की दूसरी विशेषताओं जैसे आकृति, दिशा या दूरी को बनाए रखना होता है।

यूएससीआईआरएफ ने की आरएसएस को बैन करने की मांग
इस दौरे से पहले अमेरिकी अंतरराष्ट्रीय धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता आयोग यानी यूएससीआईआरएफ ने आरएस नेतृत्व के साथ उच्चस्तरीय संपर्क से बचने की सिफारिश की थी। यूएससीआईआरएफ कमिश्नर जीन मिल्स ने कहा कि आरएसएस नेताओं को, भले ही वे भारत सरकार से जुड़े हों, हाई-लेवल मीटिंग या राजनयिक सम्मान नहीं दिया जाना चाहिए। इसके बजाय, अमेरिकी सरकार (USG) को उन आरएसएस सदस्यों पर प्रतिबंध लगाने पर ध्यान देना चाहिए, जो फ्रीडम ऑफ रिलिजन ऑर बिलीफ यानी धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता के उल्लंघन के लिए जिम्मेदार पाए गए हैं।

रॉयटर्स ने सूत्रों के हवाले से अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा है कि चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग के ब्रिक्स समिट में एक बड़े प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ शामिल होने की संभावना है। हालांकि चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग के आने की अभी आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं हुई है, लेकिन सूत्रों के अनुसार चीनी अधिकारी होटल और सुरक्षा तैयारियों को अंतिम रूप देने में जुटे हैं। अन्य भारतीय सूत्रों ने भी कहा कि शी के साथ करीब 400 अधिकारियों का प्रतिनिधिमंडल भारत आ सकता है। अगर ऐसा होता है, तो यह 2019 की तुलना में काफी बड़ा दल होगा। 2019 में शी के साथ भारत आने वाले अधिकारियों की संख्या 200 से कम थी।

Their experience demonstrates that demographic change can become a catalyst for innovation when supported by forward-looking policy and private-sector investment.

India must now develop its own model. Urbanisation, migration, smaller families, and longer life expectancy have changed traditional caregiving patterns. Millions of older parents now live independently while their children pursue careers elsewhere. Meeting their evolving needs will require an integrated ecosystem that combines family support, technology, professional services, and community engagement.

The Government of India has taken encouraging steps through initiatives such as the Senior Ageing Growth Engine (SAGE), which supports startups developing solutions for older adults, alongside programmes that encourage healthy ageing and continued participation in society. राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ प्रमुख मोहन भागवत अभी अमेरिका दौरे पर हैं। मोहन भागवत मंगलवार को अमेरिका पहुंचे। मैडिसन स्क्वायर गार्डन में उनका एक बड़ा कार्यक्रम होना है। मगर उस कार्यक्रम का अमेरिका में विरोध हो रहा है। अब अमेरिका के न्यूयॉर्क शहर के मेयर जोहरान ममदानी ने मोहन भागवत के मैडिसन स्क्वायर गार्डन कार्यक्रम का विरोध किया है।

  

न्यूयॉर्क सिटी के मेयर जोहरान ममदानी ने शहर के मैडिसन स्क्वायर में होने वाले एसएसएस प्रमुख के कार्यक्रम का विरोध किया है। ममदानी ने मंगलवार को एक प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में कहा, "मैं रैली का समर्थन नहीं करता, लेकिन मुझे नहीं पता कि क्या शहर के पास किसी निजी कार्यक्रम को रद्द करने का अधिकार है।" ममदानी ने ये बात RSS के मैडिसन स्वाक्यर गार्डन में होने वाले कार्यक्रम और उसके खिलाफ हो रहे विरोध प्रदर्शनों से जुड़े एक सवाल का जवाब देते हुए कही। उनसे पूछा गया कि क्या यह कार्यक्रम रद्द किया जाना चाहिए।

  

भारत के बारे में क्या बोले ममदानी ?
न्यूयॉर्क के पहले भारतीय-अमेरिकी मेयर ममदानी ने प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस में अपनी भारतीय मूल की पृष्ठभूमि के बारे में भी बात की। उन्होंने कहा, "मैं यहाँ हमारे शहर के इतिहास के पहले भारतीय-अमेरिकी मेयर के तौर पर भी खड़ा हूं। मेरी मां का परिवार अभी भी भारत में है। मेरे परिवार ने मुझे भारत की जो छवि दिखाई और जिसे देखते हुए मैं बड़ा हुआ, वह एक विविधतापूर्ण समाज की थी- एक धर्मनिरपेक्ष गणराज्य जो भारत के हर व्यक्ति के अपनेपन में विश्वास रखता था।"

  

आंदोलन को लेकर जताई आपत्ति
ममदानी ने आगे कहा, "सच कहूं तो किसी भी देश के लिए ऐसे आंदोलन का उभरना बेहद चिंताजनक है, जिसकी सोच समाज के कुछ लोगों को अलग रखने या बाहर करने वाली दृष्टि पर आधारित हो। यही कारण है कि मैं इसका गहरा विरोध करता हूं। यह विरोध सिर्फ एक भारतीय-अमेरिकी होने के नाते नहीं है, बल्कि एक ऐसे शहर के मेयर के रूप में भी है, जो इस बात पर गहरा विश्वास करता है कि हर व्यक्ति का समान रूप से स्थान है, चाहे उसका रंग, विचारधारा, धर्म, आस्था या मूल स्थान कुछ भी हो।"

  

यूएससीआईआरएफ ने की आरएसएस को बैन करने की मांग
इस दौरे से पहले अमेरिकी अंतरराष्ट्रीय धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता आयोग यानी यूएससीआईआरएफ ने आरएस नेतृत्व के साथ उच्चस्तरीय संपर्क से बचने की सिफारिश की थी। यूएससीआईआरएफ कमिश्नर जीन मिल्स ने कहा कि आरएसएस नेताओं को, भले ही वे भारत सरकार से जुड़े हों, हाई-लेवल मीटिंग या राजनयिक सम्मान नहीं दिया जाना चाहिए। इसके बजाय, अमेरिकी सरकार (USG) को उन आरएसएस सदस्यों पर प्रतिबंध लगाने पर ध्यान देना चाहिए, जो फ्रीडम ऑफ रिलिजन ऑर बिलीफ यानी धार्मिक स्वतंत्रता के उल्लंघन के लिए जिम्मेदार पाए गए हैं।

न्यूयॉर्क में 29 अगस्त को बड़ा कार्यक्रम
बता दें कि राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के शताब्दी वर्ष के वैश्विक संपर्क अभियान के तहत अमेरिका, कनाडा और ब्रिटेन का दौरा है। भागवत आरएसएस के 100 साल पूरे होने के मौके पर वैश्विक संपर्क कार्यक्रम के तहत मंगलवार को अमेरिका पहुंचे। न्यूयॉर्क में वह 29 अगस्त को मैडिसन स्क्वायर गार्डन में आयोजित "यूनिवर्सल ऑननेस सेलिब्रेशन" कार्यक्रम में भारतीय मूल के लोगों को संबोधित करेंगे। आयोजकों के अनुसार इस कार्यक्रम में करीब 5,000 लोगों के शामिल होने की उम्मीद है।

चीन के राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग अगले महीने नई दिल्ली में होने वाले ब्रिक्स समिट में शामिल हो सकते हैं। यह उनका 7 साल बाद भारत का पहला दौरा होगा। रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक, जिनपिंग के साथ करीब 400 अधिकारियों का बड़ा प्रतिनिधिमंडल आ सकता है। भारत 12-13 सितंबर को ब्रिक्स  सम्मेलन की मेजबानी करेगा।

  

शी के दौरे की तैयारियों में जुटे चीनी अधिकारी
रॉयटर्स ने सूत्रों के हवाले से अपनी रिपोर्ट में कहा है कि चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग के ब्रिक्स समिट में एक बड़े प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ शामिल होने की संभावना है। हालांकि चीनी राष्ट्रपति शी जिनपिंग के आने की अभी आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं हुई है, लेकिन सूत्रों के अनुसार चीनी अधिकारी होटल और सुरक्षा तैयारियों को अंतिम रूप देने में जुटे हैं। अन्य भारतीय सूत्रों ने भी कहा कि शी के साथ करीब 400 अधिकारियों का प्रतिनिधिमंडल भारत आ सकता है। अगर ऐसा होता है, तो यह 2019 की तुलना में काफी बड़ा दल होगा। 2019 में शी के साथ भारत आने वाले अधिकारियों की संख्या 200 से कम थी।

  

क्यों अहम होगा जिनपिंग का दिल्ली दौरा?
शी जिनपिंग की संभावित भारत यात्रा को इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है क्योंकि दोनों देशों के संबंध पिछले कुछ वर्षों से तनावपूर्ण रहे हैं। पिछले साल प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने सात साल में पहली बार चीन का दौरा किया था। इसके बाद दोनों देशों के बीच रिश्तों में कुछ सुधार के संकेत जरूर मिले, लेकिन संबंध पूरी तरह सामान्य नहीं हो पाए हैं। हाल ही में सीमा से जुड़े एक नए विवाद को लेकर दोनों देशों के बीच तीखी राजनयिक बयानबाजी भी हुई थी। ऐसे में नई दिल्ली में शी की मौजूदगी भारत-चीन संबंधों को स्थिर करने की कोशिशों के लिए अहम अवसर बन सकती है।

  

2020 को बाद रिश्तों में बढ़ी तल्खी
साल 2020 में बॉर्डर पर (गलवान में) झड़प के बाद भारत और चीन के रिश्ते निचले स्तर पर पहुंच गए थे। हालिया महीनों में दोनों देशों की ओर से चीजों को पटरी पर लाने की कोशिश होती दिखी है। ब्रिक्स समिट इसमें अहम मोड़ साबित हो सकती है। जिनपिंग के भारत दौरे की तैयारियों में एलएसी पर शांति और सीमा विवाद सबसे अहम मुद्दों में है। दोनों देश सीमा पर ऐसी व्यवस्था बनाने पर बात कर रहे हैं, जिससे किसी सैन्य घटना या तनाव का असर द्विपक्षीय रिश्तों पर न पड़े।

  

ब्रिक्स समिट की अध्यक्षता कर रहा है भारत
इस साल ब्रिक्स की कमान भारत के पास है। ब्रिक्स दुनिया की बड़ी उभरती अर्थव्यवस्थाओं का समूह है। इसमें भारत, रूस, चीन, ब्राजील और दक्षिण अफ्रीका के साथ मिस्र, ईरान, इथियोपिया, यूएई और इंडोनेशिया भी शामिल हैं। भारत की अध्यक्षता में पूरे साल अलग-अलग शहरों में बैठकें, मंत्रीस्तरीय सम्मेलन और कई स्तर की चर्चाएं हो रही हैं। भारत का फोकस ग्लोबल साउथ की आवाज मजबूत करने, आर्थिक सहयोग, ऊर्जा सुरक्षा, डिजिटल तकनीक, आतंकवाद से निपटने और सप्लाई चेन मजबूत करने पर है। यानी ब्रिक्स को सिर्फ राजनीतिक मंच नहीं, बल्कि व्यापार, निवेश और विकास के बड़े मंच के तौर पर आगे बढ़ाने की कोशिश है।
