 Khabar kolkata sports Desk: India cricket legend and former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly after filing his nomination for the post of CAB President unopposed today said taking Bengal cricket to new heights will be the primary goal. 

“I would like to thank everyone for their support. At CAB, there is no opposition, everyone is a part of this Association. We will all work together to take CAB & Bengal cricket ahead. There are important events coming up- Eden Gardens India’s Test match against South Africa, T20 World Cup, Bengal Pro T20 League. I will try and do my best,” Ganguly said.  

The unopposed panel that filed nominations today were Sourav Ganguly (President), Nitish Ranjan Dutta (Vice President), Bablu Koley (Secretary), Madan Mohan Ghosh (Joint Secretary), Sanjay Das (Treasurer). 

Speaking about his team, Ganguly said, “Bablu Koley is very experienced. It’s important to have someone with his experience and knowledge. Nitish Ranjan Dutta, Madan Mohan Ghosh and Sanjay Das are also experienced and are in this field for a long time. All their experience will be immensely helpful for Bengal cricket.”

*CAB hosts Annual Award Ceremony in grand fashion*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: In a glittering Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) handed the Kartick Bose Lifetime Achievement Award to former cricketers Arup Bhattacharjee and Shyama Shaw.

India and Bengal fast bowler Akash Deep received a special award for his performance in the recent Test series against in England while Abhimanyu Easwaran also received a special award for being an important member in the India Test squad.

The sparkling ceremony, which was held at the gorgeous Dhono Dhanyo auditorium, saw CAB President Snehasish Ganguly rendering some inspirational words for the Bengal cricketers.

“It is a special day for all the cricketers of Bengal. It’s a day of recognition for their hard work and also reward for their sacrifice they have done throughout the season. I would like to congratulate all the individuals who have received an award this evening for their performance in the season 2024-2025. I wish everyone the best for the upcoming season,” Mr Ganguly said.

Alongside CAB President Mr Ganguly, CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha, CAB Vice President Amalendu Biswas, CAB Treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty were present. Also present were former BCCI and CAB President Sourav Ganguly, former CAB office bearers, Chairperson of various CAB committees, former international players, Apex Council Members and members of all affiliated units.

Also present was Kolkata Mayor Janab Firhad Hakim who was the chief guest for the Awards. West Bengal Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Aroop Biswas and Member Mayor-In-Council Kolkata Municipal Corporation Debashish Kumar were also present.

Arup Bhattacharjee, who received the lifetime achievement award, was a left-handed batsman and slow left arm orthodox bowler, who played 48 first-class matches for Bengal.

Thanking the CAB for bestowing the prestigious award, Bhattacharjee said, “It is an emotional moment for me. I am honoured to receive this award from CAB. I want to thank everyone involved in my life for being a part of my cricketing journey. There are lots of memories. Thank you again."

Shyama Shaw, who received the lifetime achievement award, was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm seam bowler. She represented India in three Tests and five ODIs.

“I want to thank CAB for honouring me with this award. It has been a long journey for me from my the start of my cricketing career. Thank you again," Shaw said.

Akash Deep, after receiving the award, said, "I would like to thank the CAB for this award. This Association has helped me in my cricketing journey immensely and helped me where I am today. I want to thank each and every one at CAB."

Sourav Ganguly praising the award winners said, "I would like to congratulate all the winners. Each and every player has worked hard to reach this stage. I wish everyone the best for the upcoming season."

Bengal Umpire Abhijit Bhattacharya was handed a special award for his contribution as an umpire not only in Bengal but also in Indian cricket, which includes Women’s Premier League and Indian Premier League.

The Bengal Under-15 women’s team and support staff were also felicitated for being champions in the BCCI One-Day tournament.

Ratan Chowdhury, Rabi Shankar Chakraborty and Dhiman Biswas also received special awards for their immense contribution to Bengal local cricket as an umpire.

CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha, during his speech, said, "Thank you all for being here for the Awards Ceremony. I want to thank CAB President Snehasish Ganguly, other office bearers, and members of media for being here for the ocassion. My congratulations to all the winners."

The winners who were awarded for their excellent performance on the field last season were – Sudip Kr Gharami, who was awarded with the Cricketer of the Year while Shahbaz Ahamad was awarded the Gentleman Cricketer of the Year.

Sayan Ghosh won the Best Fast Bowler of the Year award while Sudip Chatterjee was awarded for being the highest run getter for Bengal in Ranji Trophy. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal was awarded for being the highest wicket taker for Bengal in Ranji Trophy.

Tanushree Sarkar received the Best Senior Women’s Cricketer of the Year award. Rahul Prasad received the Best Men’s U-23 Cricketer of the Year award. Dyuti Paul received the Best Women’s U-23 Cricketer of the Year award. Vishal Bhati received the Best Men’s U-19 Cricketer of the Year award. Yudhajit Guha received the Best Men’s U-19 Bowler of the Year award.

Ipshita Mondal received the Best Women’s U-19 Cricketer of the Year award. Sachin Yadav received the Best Men’s U-16 Cricketer of the Year award. Sandipta Patra received the Best Women’s U-15 Cricketer of the Year award.

Arin Roy received the Best Men’s Senior District Cricketer of the Year award.

A total of around 206 awards were given in the evening.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk : The two-day BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) workshop, involving all senior and age-group coaches of Bengal, which began on Thursday concluded at the Eden Gardens on Friday.

All coaches of Bengal senior men’s, women’s, U-23 men’s, U-16 men’s, U-13 boys, U-23 women’s, U-19 women’s, Vision 2028, various First Division clubs and other CAB age-groups took part in the workshop.

Some of the topics covered in the workshop included leadership group formation, core team values, bridging age-group coaching, skill acquisition, modern coaching concepts.

*Bengal Sr Women begin preparations for upcoming season*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Ahead of the forthcoming BCCI Domestic 2025-2026 season, Bengal Senior Women's team members assembled and began their preparations on Monday.

At the 22 Yards Sports School Ground, the Senior team began their training under the watchful eyes of head coach Probal Dutta, Women's cricket icon and team mentor Jhulan Goswami, strength and conditioning coach Biswanath Pradhan.

The session began with a pep talk by head coach Dutta, followed by warm-up session, core strengthening exercises, agility drills and flexibility exercises.

*When Test swap turned into a big hit for Eden Gardens*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: India hosting reigning World Test Champions South Africa at the iconic Eden Gardens in the first Test on November 14 will be no less than an exciting and nail-biting match.

With South Africa winning the historic title after beating Australia in the final, the excitement here in Kolkata has already scaled sky-high with the mega match coming up just in five months’ time.

Interestingly, this match between India and South Africa, was originally scheduled to take place in New Delhi on Nov 14 and Eden Gardens was scheduled to host West Indies in the second Test on October 10.

But CAB President Snehasish Ganguly took the initiative to speak to BCCI, persuading the Apex Body of cricket to allow Eden Gardens host India vs South Africa in November.

Eventually, BCCI swapped Kolkata Eden Gardens’ and New Delhi Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium’s allocated Test matches against West Indies and South Africa respectively during India’s upcoming home season.

The Test swap finally turned out to be a mega hit for Eden Gardens with the news of South Africa clinching the World Test Championship.

*Delhi High Court issued a notice to the BCCI for IPL's robot dog 'Champak'*

Sports Desk: The Delhi High Court recently issued a notice to the BCCI. It was given on the basis of a petition submitted by a magazine to children. Children's popular magazine is named Champak. And the trademark was taken for this name. The BCCI uses the Champak name in the case of the AI robot dog, despite having that trademark. The Delhi court has asked the BCCI in response to the case filed by Champak Magazine. The BCCI asked for a written form by July 9.

*Bengal Pro T20 League Women’s draft featured 188 cricketers*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: A total of 128 women players were drafted from a pool of 188 cricketers in the second edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League at a glitzy ceremony at a city hotel on Monday.

The players were picked by the eight franchisees namely Sobisco Smashers Malda, Adamas Howrah Warriors, ServoTech Siliguri Strikers, Harbour Diamonds, Rarh Tigers Burdwan| Birbhum, Lux-Shyam Kolkata Tigers, Murshidabad Kueens and Reshmi Medinipur Wizards.

CAB Office bearers led by President Snehasish Ganguly, CAB Joint Secretary Debabrata Das, women’s cricket icon Jhulan Goswami, CAB Tour, Fixture and Technical Committee Chairman Sanjay Das were present along with Chairpersons of various CAB committees, former international players and former office bearers.

Also present were Bengal Pro T20 League committee members - Deep Chatterjee, Subhradeep Ganguly, Lopamudra Banerjee, Keya Ray, Surajit Lahiri, Ambarish Mitra, Soumendu Chatterjee, Joydeep Mukherjee, along with other CAB members.

Speaking about the draft, CAB President Mr Ganguly said: “A warm welcome to all former office bearers, international players, CAB members, all franchises for the women’s draft. The League has surely helped to uplift the standard of the game specially in the limited overs, the results in the last BCCI domestic season shows.

बीसीसीआई ने किया सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रेक्ट का ऐलान, 5 भारतीय खिलाड़ियों को मिली जगह

बीसीसीआई ने साल 2024-2025 के लिए खिलाड़ियों के सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रेक्ट की सूची का एलान कर दिया है। इस लिस्ट में कुल 34 खिलाड़ी हैं। 34 नामों को चार ग्रेड में बांटा गया है। हमेशा की तरह खिलाड़ियों को A+, A, B और C कैटेगरी में बांटा गया है। इनकी सैलरी एक करोड़ से 7 करोड़ तक है। 34 खिलाड़ियों में 5 ऐसे नाम शामिल हैं जिन्हें बीसीसीआई ने पहली बार सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रैक्ट में जगह दी है। बड़ी बात ये है कि ईशान किशन और श्रेयस अय्यर की कॉन्ट्रेक्ट में फिर से वापसी हुई है।

किस ग्रेड को कितना पैसा?

बीसीसीआई सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रेक्ट में 34 खिलाड़ियों को 4 ग्रेड में बांटा गया है। हर खिलाड़ी को उसके ग्रेड के मुताबिक सालाना रकम दी जाएगी। सबसे ज्यादा 7 करोड़ रुपये A+ ग्रेड के खिलाड़ियों को मिलते हैं। वहीं A ग्रेड में 5 करोड़ रुपये मिलते हैं। जबकि B ग्रेड के खिलाड़ियों को 3 करोड़ रुपये। वहीं C ग्रेड में शामिल खिलाड़ियों को सालाना 1-1 करोड़ रुपये मिलते हैं। बीसीसीआई के केंद्रीय अनुबंध की सूची में उन्हीं खिलाड़ियों को जगह मिलती है जो एक साल के अंदर कम से कम तीन टेस्ट, आठ वनडे या 10 टी20 मैच जरूर खेले हों।

ऋषभ पंत ग्रेड- B से ग्रेड- A में प्रमोट

A+ ग्रेड में 4 खिलाड़ियों को जगह दी है। उसने रोहित शर्मा, विराट कोहली, जसप्रीत बुमराह और रवींद्र जडेजा को इस ग्रेड में रखा है। वहीं A ग्रेड में 6 खिलाड़ी शामिल किए गए हैं, जिसमें मोहम्मद सिराज, केएल राहुल, शुभमन गिल, हार्दिक पंड्या, मोहम्मद शमी और ऋषभ पंत हैं। विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज ऋषभ पंत को इस कॉन्ट्रेक्ट में फायदा हुआ है। वह ग्रेड- B से ग्रेड- A में प्रमोट किए गए हैं।

ईशान और श्रेयस की वापसी

वहीं, पांच खिलाड़ी B ग्रेड और 19 खिलाड़ी C ग्रेड में हैं। नीतीश रेड्डी, हर्षित राणा, अभिषेक शर्मा और वरुण चक्रवर्ती को पहली बार बीसीसीआई के केंद्रीय अनुबंध में जगह मिली है। इन सभी को ग्रेड- C में रखा गया है। इस केंद्रीय अनुबंध की सबसे बड़ी खबर ईशान किशन और श्रेयस अय्यर की इस सूची मे वापसी है। ईशान और श्रेयस को बीसीसीआई से अनबन के बाद 2023-24 के केंद्रीय अनुबंध की सूची से बाहर होना पड़ा था। बीसीसीआई के कहने के बावजूद ईशान और श्रेयस ने घरेलू टूर्नामेंट में हिस्सा नहीं लिया था। हालांकि, अब इन दोनों की वापसी हो गई है। ईशान को ग्रेड- C और श्रेयस को ग्रेड- B में रखा गया है।

*Bengal Pro T20 League Women’s draft featured 188 cricketers*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: A total of 128 women players were drafted from a pool of 188 cricketers in the second edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League at a glitzy ceremony at a city hotel on Monday.

The players were picked by the eight franchisees namely Sobisco Smashers Malda, Adamas Howrah Warriors, ServoTech Siliguri Strikers, Harbour Diamonds, Rarh Tigers Burdwan| Birbhum, Lux-Shyam Kolkata Tigers, Murshidabad Kueens and Reshmi Medinipur Wizards.

CAB Office bearers led by President Snehasish Ganguly, CAB Joint Secretary Debabrata Das, women’s cricket icon Jhulan Goswami, CAB Tour, Fixture and Technical Committee Chairman Sanjay Das were present along with Chairpersons of various CAB committees, former international players and former office bearers.

Also present were Bengal Pro T20 League committee members - Deep Chatterjee, Subhradeep Ganguly, Lopamudra Banerjee, Keya Ray, Surajit Lahiri, Ambarish Mitra, Soumendu Chatterjee, Joydeep Mukherjee, along with other CAB members.

Speaking about the draft, CAB President Mr Ganguly said: “A warm welcome to all former office bearers, international players, CAB members, all franchises for the women’s draft. The League has surely helped to uplift the standard of the game specially in the limited overs, the results in the last BCCI domestic season shows.

बीसीसीआई ने किया सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रेक्ट का ऐलान, 5 भारतीय खिलाड़ियों को मिली जगह

बीसीसीआई ने साल 2024-2025 के लिए खिलाड़ियों के सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रेक्ट की सूची का एलान कर दिया है। इस लिस्ट में कुल 34 खिलाड़ी हैं। 34 नामों को चार ग्रेड में बांटा गया है। हमेशा की तरह खिलाड़ियों को A+, A, B और C कैटेगरी में बांटा गया है। इनकी सैलरी एक करोड़ से 7 करोड़ तक है। 34 खिलाड़ियों में 5 ऐसे नाम शामिल हैं जिन्हें बीसीसीआई ने पहली बार सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रैक्ट में जगह दी है। बड़ी बात ये है कि ईशान किशन और श्रेयस अय्यर की कॉन्ट्रेक्ट में फिर से वापसी हुई है।

किस ग्रेड को कितना पैसा?

बीसीसीआई सेंट्रल कॉन्ट्रेक्ट में 34 खिलाड़ियों को 4 ग्रेड में बांटा गया है। हर खिलाड़ी को उसके ग्रेड के मुताबिक सालाना रकम दी जाएगी। सबसे ज्यादा 7 करोड़ रुपये A+ ग्रेड के खिलाड़ियों को मिलते हैं। वहीं A ग्रेड में 5 करोड़ रुपये मिलते हैं। जबकि B ग्रेड के खिलाड़ियों को 3 करोड़ रुपये। वहीं C ग्रेड में शामिल खिलाड़ियों को सालाना 1-1 करोड़ रुपये मिलते हैं। बीसीसीआई के केंद्रीय अनुबंध की सूची में उन्हीं खिलाड़ियों को जगह मिलती है जो एक साल के अंदर कम से कम तीन टेस्ट, आठ वनडे या 10 टी20 मैच जरूर खेले हों।

ऋषभ पंत ग्रेड- B से ग्रेड- A में प्रमोट

A+ ग्रेड में 4 खिलाड़ियों को जगह दी है। उसने रोहित शर्मा, विराट कोहली, जसप्रीत बुमराह और रवींद्र जडेजा को इस ग्रेड में रखा है। वहीं A ग्रेड में 6 खिलाड़ी शामिल किए गए हैं, जिसमें मोहम्मद सिराज, केएल राहुल, शुभमन गिल, हार्दिक पंड्या, मोहम्मद शमी और ऋषभ पंत हैं। विकेटकीपर बल्लेबाज ऋषभ पंत को इस कॉन्ट्रेक्ट में फायदा हुआ है। वह ग्रेड- B से ग्रेड- A में प्रमोट किए गए हैं।

ईशान और श्रेयस की वापसी

वहीं, पांच खिलाड़ी B ग्रेड और 19 खिलाड़ी C ग्रेड में हैं। नीतीश रेड्डी, हर्षित राणा, अभिषेक शर्मा और वरुण चक्रवर्ती को पहली बार बीसीसीआई के केंद्रीय अनुबंध में जगह मिली है। इन सभी को ग्रेड- C में रखा गया है। इस केंद्रीय अनुबंध की सबसे बड़ी खबर ईशान किशन और श्रेयस अय्यर की इस सूची मे वापसी है। ईशान और श्रेयस को बीसीसीआई से अनबन के बाद 2023-24 के केंद्रीय अनुबंध की सूची से बाहर होना पड़ा था। बीसीसीआई के कहने के बावजूद ईशान और श्रेयस ने घरेलू टूर्नामेंट में हिस्सा नहीं लिया था। हालांकि, अब इन दोनों की वापसी हो गई है। ईशान को ग्रेड- C और श्रेयस को ग्रेड- B में रखा गया है।
