भारत बांग्लादेश में अशांति पर कड़ी नज़र रख रहा है, जो एक पड़ोसी देश होने के साथ-साथ नई दिल्ली के सबसे करीबी सहयोगियों में से एक है। यह हज़ारों भारतीय छात्रों का अस्थायी घर भी है। बांग्लादेश में छात्र समूहों ने प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना की सरकार द्वारा हिरासत में लिए गए नेताओं को रिहा करने और हाल की हिंसा के लिए माफ़ी मांगने की उनकी मांग को पूरा करने में विफल रहने के बाद हसीना के 16 साल के शासन से नाराज़गी जताते हुए उन्हें देश छोड़ने को मजबूर कर दिया था। लेकिन नई दिल्ली ने इसपर कोई भी पूर्व प्रतिक्रिया जारी नई की थी, जिसके कारण लोगों के मन में यह सवाल है कि क्या भारत की ख़ुफ़िया एजेंसीज ने इस घटना को लेकर भारत सरकार को कोई चेतवानी नई दी थी। 



"भारत देश में चल रही स्थिति को बांग्लादेश का आंतरिक मामला मानता है। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रणधीर जायसवाल ने साप्ताहिक प्रेस वार्ता में कहा था, "बांग्लादेश सरकार के समर्थन और सहयोग से हम अपने छात्रों की सुरक्षित वापसी की व्यवस्था करने में सक्षम हैं।"



देश में हिंसक झड़पों के बीच बांग्लादेश से करीब 6,700 भारतीय छात्र वापस लौटे थे



जायसवाल ने कहा, "एक करीबी पड़ोसी होने के नाते जिसके साथ हमारे बहुत ही मधुर और मैत्रीपूर्ण संबंध हैं, हमें उम्मीद है कि देश में स्थिति जल्द ही सामान्य हो जाएगी।"

सुरक्षा, व्यापार और कूटनीति के लिए बांग्लादेश महत्वपूर्ण



भारत के लिए, सामान्य स्थिति में लौटने का मतलब है हसीना का सत्ता में लौटना, आंशिक रूप से सुरक्षा कारणों से दोनों देश 4,100 किलोमीटर लंबी (2,500 मील) छिद्रपूर्ण सीमा साझा करते हैं, जिसका मानव तस्कर और आतंकवादी समूह फायदा उठा सकते हैं। इसके अलावा, बांग्लादेश पश्चिम बंगाल, असम, मेघालय, त्रिपुरा और मिजोरम के भारतीय राज्यों के साथ सीमा साझा करता है, जो हिंसक विद्रोहों के लिए असुरक्षित हैं। बांग्लादेश में भारत के पूर्व उच्चायुक्त पिनाक रंजन चक्रवर्ती ने बताया भारत ने पड़ोसी देश में जन समर्थन और सद्भावना बनाने के लिए निवेश किया है। "बांग्लादेश की भौगोलिक स्थिति उसे बांग्लादेश, भूटान, भारत और नेपाल वाले उप-क्षेत्र के विकास में एक हितधारक बनाती है। इस क्षेत्र में बांग्लादेश के उत्तर और पूर्व में स्थित भारतीय राज्य शामिल हैं। भारत के पूर्वोत्तर में स्थित ये राज्य कभी अविभाजित भारत में आपूर्ति श्रृंखला में एकीकृत थे," चक्रवर्ती ने बताया। अब, बांग्लादेश और भारत परिवहन संपर्क को बढ़ावा देने और "विभाजन-पूर्व युग में जो मौजूद था उसे बहाल करने" के लिए काम कर रहे हैं, उन्होंने कहा।



ढाका को अरबों का ऋण



भारत, बांग्लादेश को एक महत्वपूर्ण पूर्वी बफर के रूप में पहचानता है और अपने बंदरगाहों और बिजली ग्रिड तक पहुँच के माध्यम से महत्वपूर्ण सहायता प्रदान करता है। नई दिल्ली ने अब तक ढाका को लगभग 8 बिलियन डॉलर (€7.39 बिलियन) की ऋण रेखाएँ दी हैं, जिसका उपयोग विकास परियोजनाओं, बुनियादी ढाँचे के निर्माण और डीजल की आपूर्ति के लिए पाइपलाइन के निर्माण के लिए किया जाता है। देश में निवेश करने वाली प्रमुख भारतीय कंपनियों में मैरिको, इमामी, डाबर, एशियन पेंट्स और टाटा मोटर्स शामिल हैं।



छात्र विरोध प्रदर्शनों के बढ़ने से इन कंपनियों पर प्रत्यक्ष या अप्रत्यक्ष रूप से असर पड़ सकता है। जवाहरलाल नेहरू विश्वविद्यालय के दक्षिण एशियाई अध्ययन केंद्र के संजय भारद्वाज ने कहा, "भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच संबंध उनके साझा इतिहास, जटिल सामाजिक-आर्थिक अंतरनिर्भरता और उनकी भू-राजनीतिक स्थिति में अंतर्निहित हैं। क्षेत्र में कोई भी टकराव वाली राजनीति और राजनीतिक अस्थिरता आतंकवाद, कट्टरवाद, उग्रवाद और पलायन की समस्याओं को आमंत्रित करती है।" उन्होंने कहा, "हिंसक विरोध और राजनीतिक अस्थिरता हिंसा के चक्र को जन्म देगी और लोग भारत की ओर पलायन करेंगे।" भारत और चीन के बीच टकराव हाल के वर्षों में, भारत और चीन दोनों ने बांग्लादेश में अपने आर्थिक दांव बढ़ाए हैं, जो दोनों देशों की बढ़ती भू-राजनीतिक प्रतिद्वंद्विता में बदल रहा है। बांग्लादेश के साथ घनिष्ठ संबंधों का दावा करने के बावजूद, कुछ विश्लेषकों का मानना ​​है कि भारतीय नीति निर्माता बांग्लादेश की आबादी के कुछ हिस्सों में व्याप्त भारत विरोधी भावना को समझने में संघर्ष करते हैं। इसका कुछ कारण नई दिल्ली द्वारा सत्तारूढ़ अवामी लीग को समर्थन देना हो सकता है।

Bengal sealed top spot in Group E with 20 points from 5 games after beating Arunachal Pradesh by a massive 142 runs on Tuesday. 

Batting first, Bengal posted a challenging 168/6 in 20 overs, thanks to Ipsita Mondal (52 off 47 balls), Sasti Mondal (36 off 27) and (Prativa Mandi (30 off 19).

In reply, Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for just 26 in 13 overs. For Bengal, Monika Mal (4/2), Bidisha Dey (2/4), Rupal Tiwari (2/8) and Jahanbi Raj Paswan (2/9) were superb with the ball.

यह घटना ऐसे समय में हुई है जब चीन अपनी नौसेना का विस्तार करने पर जोर दे रहा है।हाल ही में चीन ने अपना अंतरमहाद्वीपीय बैलिस्टिक मिसाइल (ICBM) का प्रशांत महासागर में परीक्षण किया। यह टेस्ट चीन ने 44 साल बाद किया था।

समुद्र में अमेरिका दुनिया में सबसे शक्तिशाली देश है, लेकिन चीन इस अंतर को कम करने के लिए कड़ी मेहनत कर रहा है।चीन के पास पहले से ही 370 से अधिक जहाजों के साथ दुनिया की सबसे बड़ी नौसेना है। इसके साथ ही उसने परमाणु-सशस्त्र पनडुब्बियों की एक नई पीढ़ी का उत्पादन शुरू कर दिया है। चीन परमाणु ऊर्जा से चलने वाली पनडुब्बियों के उत्पादन में विविधता लाने की दिशा में आगे बढ़ रहा है। चीनी परमाणु पनडुब्बियों का निर्माण हुलुदाओ के शिपयार्ड में सबसे अधिक हुआ है, लेकिन अब वुहान के पास वुचांग शिपयार्ड में परमाणु ऊर्जा से चलने वाली हमलावर पनडुब्बियों का निर्माण किया जा रहा है।

चीन की सैन्य शक्ति पर पिछले साल जारी पेंटागन की रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, 2022 के अंत तक बीजिंग के पास 48 डीजल-इलेक्ट्रिक हमलावर पनडुब्बियां और छह परमाणु पनडुब्बियां थीं। उस रिपोर्ट में कहा गया था कि नई हमलावर पनडुब्बियां, सतही युद्धपोत और नौसैनिक विमान विकसित करने का चीन का उद्देश्य संघर्ष के दौरान ताइवान की सहायता के लिए अमेरिका और उसके सहयोगियों द्वारा किए जा रहे प्रयासों का मुकाबला करना और "समुद्री श्रेष्ठता" हासिल करना है।

वहीं भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ के अध्यक्ष संजय सिंह ने कहा, यह तो होना ही था। पूरे देश में सबको पता है कि यह आंदोलन कांग्रेस के इशारे पर हो रहा था और उसके पूरे कर्ता-धर्ता दीपेंद्र हुड्डा और पूरी हुड्डा फेमिली थी। इसकी चिंगारी हरियाणा से लगाई गई। इस धरने की नींव उसी दिन पड़ गई थी जिस दिन हमारे यशस्वी प्रधानमंत्री ने भारतीय कुश्ती संघ के अध्यक्ष रहे बृजभूषण सिंह की तारीफ़ की थी और कहा था कि कुश्ती सुरक्षित हाथों में है। यह ओलंपिक का साल था और आंदोलन करके जो पांच छह मेडल आने वाले थे, उसे भी डिस्टर्ब किया गया।

विनेश के साथ ही बजरंग पुनिया ने हरियाणा के चुनावी घमासान के बीच कांग्रेस का दामन थामा। इस दौरान व‍िनेश ने कांग्रेस में शाम‍िल होने की वजह बताई। उन्होंने बताया कि जब उन्होंने और अन्य महिला पहलवानों ने बृजभूषण शरण सिंह के खिलाफ आवाज उठाई, तो दुर्भाग्य की बात रही कि बीजेपी ने हमारा साथ देना जरूरी नहीं समझा। इस मुश्किल वक्त में किसी ने हमारा साथ दिया, तो वो कांग्रेस ही थी, इसलिए हमने कांग्रेस में शाम‍िल होने का फैसला किया।

अब सवाल है क्या कांग्रेस ने चुनावी फायदे के लिए पहलवानों के प्रदर्शन को सियासी रंग दिया? विनेश फोगाट के कांग्रेस का दामन थामने और चुनावी मैदान में उतरने से राजनीतिक परिस्थिति पर कितना असर पड़ेगा, ये आने वाले वक़्त में पता चलेगा। लेकिन हरियाणा की राजनीति पर क़रीबी नज़र रखने वालों की मानों तो ओलंपिक खेलों के बाद विनेश के पक्ष में बने सेंटीमेंट का कांग्रेस को फायदा होगा। हरियाणा में किसान पहले से ही कांग्रेस के साथ हैं। पहलवानों के विरोध प्रदर्शन को किसानों ने समर्थन दिया था। विनेश की छवि एक किसान की बेटी की है। ऐसे में विनेश को टिकट देने से किसानों के बीच कांग्रेस की छवि और पुख़्ता होगी और इससे राज्य में अन्य क्षेत्रों में भी उसे फायदा मिलेगा।

The technical director of this academy is Douglas. Attending the event, Barreto said, “I get nostalgic when I come to Kolkata. Thursday is Teacher's Day. But Douglas is a very good teacher. I have seen in the sports life, he guided the juniors in a great way. Young talent will surely emerge under his supervision.” Douglas is also overwhelmed by the responsibility. He said, “This is probably the best opportunity to work for football academy. I was able to return to Calcutta because of God's will."
  
Joydeep said at the event, “Wait for 3-4 months. Bengal will benefit from this academy.” Bishop Canning said, “This academy will not be limited to school students in the near future, but boys and girls  from poor families as well. ISL 2024-25 Media Day: “Trophies in the past don’t matter; you are only as good as your last game”, says NorthEast United FC head coach Juan Pedro Benali





KKNB: The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 Media Day began in Kolkata with representatives from seven clubs, i.e. Mohun Bagan Super Giant, East Bengal FC, Mohammedan SC, Odisha FC, Jamshedpur FC, Punjab FC and NorthEast United FC previewing the upcoming season.

The event saw a blend of new and familiar faces, with Mohun Bagan's Jose Molina and Punjab FC's Panagiotis Dilmperis making their ISL debuts as head coaches, while veterans like Sergio Lobera, Khalid Jamil, Juan Pedro Benali, and Carles Cuadrat discussed their strategies for the campaign.

The discussions, however, began with the newly-promoted Mohammedan SC head coach Andrey Chernyshov expressing his pleasure at joining the ISL, with his captain Samad Ali Mallick underlining their ambitions to challenge for the playoffs straightaway.

“It’s a nice feeling to be a part of the ISL family. We did a great job last year by winning the I-League. I am thrilled about our supporters. They had been expecting this for many years. I can’t wait to get started with the league,” Chernyshov said.

The two other Kolkata heavyweights are on their desired track ahead of the coming ISL campaign. Whilst the Mariners embark on the coveted title defence, East Bengal FC are bolstered by solid reinforcements to their squad in the summer.

“It’s a process to prepare the team for the ISL. We have been working together for a month and there are still a few things to improve upon. We are confident in our players and the way we have trained until now,” Jose Molina said.

East Bengal FC tactician Cuadrat overlooked comparisons from their sluggish start last year to insist confidently that his team will hit the ground running from their opening fixture this time around.

“It’s a different season with different players, and hence I wouldn’t like to compare to the last campaign, because every team is in a different situation as they were last time around. We have the complete squad with us and we will have to be competitive from day one,” Cuadrat said.

 Lobera eyes ISL title with Odisha FC 

Odisha FC, who finished fourth last season, are basking on their storied run across multiple competitions in 2023-24 to produce similarly impressive outings this year too.

“It’s been six years in India for me now. We had an amazing season last year, finishing at the top of the group in the AFC Cup. We were close to winning the Super Cup and we reached the ISL semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history. It was an amazing run and we want to replicate that this year to put a smile on the faces of the fans,” Lobera said.



 Challengers for the playoffs spots 

The trio of Punjab FC, NorthEast United, and Jamshedpur FC had ignited an exciting late challenge for the playoffs last season, falling short at the final hurdle. Since then, the Highlanders have gone from strength to strength, winning the club’s first trophy with the Durand Cup last month.

“We are now starting to realise with what we did in the Durand Cup! But, now, we look forward to the ISL and there’s another story that’s waiting for us in the coming season. Trophies in the past don’t make you play better. You are only as good as your last game,” Benali mentioned.

Jamshedpur FC’s Khalid Jamil praised the ISL for bringing in new rules, such as the introduction of the concussion substitute, mandating an AFC Pro License holding (or equivalent) Indian assistant coach, amongst others. Considering that he is one of the two Indian head coaches in the ISL along with Thangboi Singto of Hyderabad FC, Jamil said, “These new rules will help in the development of Indian football. We shall study it in detail and see how they could help us benefit during the course of the season as well.”

For Punjab FC, they have a new coach at helm in Greek tactician Panagiotis Dilmperis. The team has made some smart acquisitions in the transfer window and Dimperis expressed satisfaction at the same, whereas skipper Luka Majcen stressed upon the importance of a positive start.

“I am really lucky with all the players we have got in the Punjab FC roster. They are all great personalities and our aim is to achieve greater heights than we did last year,” Dimperis said.

भारत बांग्लादेश में अशांति पर कड़ी नज़र रख रहा है, जो एक पड़ोसी देश होने के साथ-साथ नई दिल्ली के सबसे करीबी सहयोगियों में से एक है। यह हज़ारों भारतीय छात्रों का अस्थायी घर भी है। बांग्लादेश में छात्र समूहों ने प्रधानमंत्री शेख हसीना की सरकार द्वारा हिरासत में लिए गए नेताओं को रिहा करने और हाल की हिंसा के लिए माफ़ी मांगने की उनकी मांग को पूरा करने में विफल रहने के बाद हसीना के 16 साल के शासन से नाराज़गी जताते हुए उन्हें देश छोड़ने को मजबूर कर दिया था। लेकिन नई दिल्ली ने इसपर कोई भी पूर्व प्रतिक्रिया जारी नई की थी, जिसके कारण लोगों के मन में यह सवाल है कि क्या भारत की ख़ुफ़िया एजेंसीज ने इस घटना को लेकर भारत सरकार को कोई चेतवानी नई दी थी। 



"भारत देश में चल रही स्थिति को बांग्लादेश का आंतरिक मामला मानता है। विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रणधीर जायसवाल ने साप्ताहिक प्रेस वार्ता में कहा था, "बांग्लादेश सरकार के समर्थन और सहयोग से हम अपने छात्रों की सुरक्षित वापसी की व्यवस्था करने में सक्षम हैं।"



देश में हिंसक झड़पों के बीच बांग्लादेश से करीब 6,700 भारतीय छात्र वापस लौटे थे

Bengal sealed top spot in Group E with 20 points from 5 games after beating Arunachal Pradesh by a massive 142 runs on Tuesday. 

Batting first, Bengal posted a challenging 168/6 in 20 overs, thanks to Ipsita Mondal (52 off 47 balls), Sasti Mondal (36 off 27) and (Prativa Mandi (30 off 19).

In reply, Arunachal Pradesh were bundled out for just 26 in 13 overs. For Bengal, Monika Mal (4/2), Bidisha Dey (2/4), Rupal Tiwari (2/8) and Jahanbi Raj Paswan (2/9) were superb with the ball.

विनेश फोगाट और पूनिया कांग्रेस के मोहरे थे’ बृजभूषण शरण सिंह के बयान में कितनी सच्चाई?

ओलंपियन विनेश फोगट और बजरंग पुनिया कांग्रेस में शामिल हो चुके हैं।कांग्रेस की सदस्यता लेने के बाद पार्टी की तरफ से विनेश को जुलाना से टिकट भी दे दिया गया है। वहीं, पूनिया को अखिल भारतीय किसान कांग्रेस का कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष बनाया गया है।फोगट और पुनिया के कांग्रेस में शामिल होने के एक बाद भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ के पूर्व प्रमुख बृज भूषण शरण सिंह ने कहा कि कांग्रेस ने विनेश फोगट और बजरंग पुनिया को मोहरे के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया।

बृजभूषण सिंह ने यौन उत्पीड़न के विरोध प्रदर्शन के दो प्रमुख चेहरे फोगाट और पुनिया के बारे में पूछे जाने पर कहा, ‘वे चेहरे थे… वे मोहरे थे। हरियाणा के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री भूपेंद्र हुड्डा, कांग्रेस और कांग्रेस परिवार ने उन्हें मोहरों की तरह इस्तेमाल किया।’ उन्होंने कहा कि, ‘यह सब भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ पर नियंत्रण पाने और बीजेपी की विचारधारा पर हमला करने के लिए रची गई साजिश थी। उन्होंने कहा कि विनेश और बजरंग के कांग्रेस में शामिल होने के बाद यह बात सच साबित हुई कि उनके खिलाफ महिला पहलवानों का आंदोलन कांग्रेस की साजिश थी। राहुल की यह टीम, कांग्रेस इस तरह का काम करती रहती है।’ अब सवाल है कि बृज भूषण शरण सिंह के बयान का आधार क्या? भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ के पूर्व प्रमुख की बातों में कितनी सच्चाई है?

वहीं भारतीय कुश्ती महासंघ के अध्यक्ष संजय सिंह ने कहा, यह तो होना ही था। पूरे देश में सबको पता है कि यह आंदोलन कांग्रेस के इशारे पर हो रहा था और उसके पूरे कर्ता-धर्ता दीपेंद्र हुड्डा और पूरी हुड्डा फेमिली थी। इसकी चिंगारी हरियाणा से लगाई गई। इस धरने की नींव उसी दिन पड़ गई थी जिस दिन हमारे यशस्वी प्रधानमंत्री ने भारतीय कुश्ती संघ के अध्यक्ष रहे बृजभूषण सिंह की तारीफ़ की थी और कहा था कि कुश्ती सुरक्षित हाथों में है। यह ओलंपिक का साल था और आंदोलन करके जो पांच छह मेडल आने वाले थे, उसे भी डिस्टर्ब किया गया।

विनेश के साथ ही बजरंग पुनिया ने हरियाणा के चुनावी घमासान के बीच कांग्रेस का दामन थामा। इस दौरान व‍िनेश ने कांग्रेस में शाम‍िल होने की वजह बताई। उन्होंने बताया कि जब उन्होंने और अन्य महिला पहलवानों ने बृजभूषण शरण सिंह के खिलाफ आवाज उठाई, तो दुर्भाग्य की बात रही कि बीजेपी ने हमारा साथ देना जरूरी नहीं समझा। इस मुश्किल वक्त में किसी ने हमारा साथ दिया, तो वो कांग्रेस ही थी, इसलिए हमने कांग्रेस में शाम‍िल होने का फैसला किया।

अब सवाल है क्या कांग्रेस ने चुनावी फायदे के लिए पहलवानों के प्रदर्शन को सियासी रंग दिया? विनेश फोगाट के कांग्रेस का दामन थामने और चुनावी मैदान में उतरने से राजनीतिक परिस्थिति पर कितना असर पड़ेगा, ये आने वाले वक़्त में पता चलेगा। लेकिन हरियाणा की राजनीति पर क़रीबी नज़र रखने वालों की मानों तो ओलंपिक खेलों के बाद विनेश के पक्ष में बने सेंटीमेंट का कांग्रेस को फायदा होगा। हरियाणा में किसान पहले से ही कांग्रेस के साथ हैं। पहलवानों के विरोध प्रदर्शन को किसानों ने समर्थन दिया था। विनेश की छवि एक किसान की बेटी की है। ऐसे में विनेश को टिकट देने से किसानों के बीच कांग्रेस की छवि और पुख़्ता होगी और इससे राज्य में अन्य क्षेत्रों में भी उसे फायदा मिलेगा।

  Khabar kolkata:The journey of Bishop Canning-Artage Sports Academy began with a function at St. Thomas’ Boys’ School, Kidderpore on Thursday. On that occasion, two former footballers of Mohun Bagan and East Bengal were seen on the same stage. Apart from Bishop Canning, Mohun Bagan's former footballer Jose Ramirez Barretto, East Bengal's former footballer Douglas Da Silva, Kolkata Municipal Council Mayor (Sports) Debashis Kumar, Eastern Railway Chief Public Relations Officer Kaushik Mitra, St. Thomas’ Boys’ School Principal Suman Biswas and others. Jaydeep Mukherjee was on stage from Artage Sports.
  
The technical director of this academy is Douglas. Attending the event, Barreto said, “I get nostalgic when I come to Kolkata. Thursday is Teacher's Day. But Douglas is a very good teacher. I have seen in the sports life, he guided the juniors in a great way. Young talent will surely emerge under his supervision.” Douglas is also overwhelmed by the responsibility. He said, “This is probably the best opportunity to work for football academy. I was able to return to Calcutta because of God's will."
  
Joydeep said at the event, “Wait for 3-4 months. Bengal will benefit from this academy.” Bishop Canning said, “This academy will not be limited to school students in the near future, but boys and girls  from poor families as well. ISL 2024-25 Media Day: “Trophies in the past don’t matter; you are only as good as your last game”, says NorthEast United FC head coach Juan Pedro Benali





KKNB: The Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 Media Day began in Kolkata with representatives from seven clubs, i.e. Mohun Bagan Super Giant, East Bengal FC, Mohammedan SC, Odisha FC, Jamshedpur FC, Punjab FC and NorthEast United FC previewing the upcoming season.

The event saw a blend of new and familiar faces, with Mohun Bagan's Jose Molina and Punjab FC's Panagiotis Dilmperis making their ISL debuts as head coaches, while veterans like Sergio Lobera, Khalid Jamil, Juan Pedro Benali, and Carles Cuadrat discussed their strategies for the campaign.

The discussions, however, began with the newly-promoted Mohammedan SC head coach Andrey Chernyshov expressing his pleasure at joining the ISL, with his captain Samad Ali Mallick underlining their ambitions to challenge for the playoffs straightaway.

“It’s a nice feeling to be a part of the ISL family. We did a great job last year by winning the I-League. I am thrilled about our supporters. They had been expecting this for many years. I can’t wait to get started with the league,” Chernyshov said.

The two other Kolkata heavyweights are on their desired track ahead of the coming ISL campaign. Whilst the Mariners embark on the coveted title defence, East Bengal FC are bolstered by solid reinforcements to their squad in the summer.

“It’s a process to prepare the team for the ISL. We have been working together for a month and there are still a few things to improve upon. We are confident in our players and the way we have trained until now,” Jose Molina said.

East Bengal FC tactician Cuadrat overlooked comparisons from their sluggish start last year to insist confidently that his team will hit the ground running from their opening fixture this time around.

“It’s a different season with different players, and hence I wouldn’t like to compare to the last campaign, because every team is in a different situation as they were last time around. We have the complete squad with us and we will have to be competitive from day one,” Cuadrat said.

 Lobera eyes ISL title with Odisha FC 

Odisha FC, who finished fourth last season, are basking on their storied run across multiple competitions in 2023-24 to produce similarly impressive outings this year too.

“It’s been six years in India for me now. We had an amazing season last year, finishing at the top of the group in the AFC Cup. We were close to winning the Super Cup and we reached the ISL semi-finals for the first time in the club’s history. It was an amazing run and we want to replicate that this year to put a smile on the faces of the fans,” Lobera said.



 Challengers for the playoffs spots 

The trio of Punjab FC, NorthEast United, and Jamshedpur FC had ignited an exciting late challenge for the playoffs last season, falling short at the final hurdle. Since then, the Highlanders have gone from strength to strength, winning the club’s first trophy with the Durand Cup last month.

“We are now starting to realise with what we did in the Durand Cup! But, now, we look forward to the ISL and there’s another story that’s waiting for us in the coming season. Trophies in the past don’t make you play better. You are only as good as your last game,” Benali mentioned.

Jamshedpur FC’s Khalid Jamil praised the ISL for bringing in new rules, such as the introduction of the concussion substitute, mandating an AFC Pro License holding (or equivalent) Indian assistant coach, amongst others. Considering that he is one of the two Indian head coaches in the ISL along with Thangboi Singto of Hyderabad FC, Jamil said, “These new rules will help in the development of Indian football. We shall study it in detail and see how they could help us benefit during the course of the season as well.”

For Punjab FC, they have a new coach at helm in Greek tactician Panagiotis Dilmperis. The team has made some smart acquisitions in the transfer window and Dimperis expressed satisfaction at the same, whereas skipper Luka Majcen stressed upon the importance of a positive start.

“I am really lucky with all the players we have got in the Punjab FC roster. They are all great personalities and our aim is to achieve greater heights than we did last year,” Dimperis said.
