Sports Desk : The stage is set for an electrifying start to the 2nd season of the Campus Bengal Pro T20 League, with a grand opening ceremony at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, 11th June 2025. The festivities begin with a dazzling performance by singing sensation Sunidhi Chauhan, followed by the much-anticipated opening clash between Sobisco Smashers Malda and Murshidabad Kings.

This season, Campus joins the league as the Official Title Sponsor, adding further energy and style to Bengal’s premier T20 competition.

The action continues with the launch of the women’s league on 12th June at JU Salt Lake Campus. The opening women’s match features Murshidabad Kueens taking on Harbour Diamonds.

 Khabar kolkata sports Desk : A total of 802 cricketers were drafted in the mega men’s draft of the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 at a glitzy ceremony at a city hotel on Monday.

The players were picked by the eight franchisees namely Sobisco Smashers Malda, Adamas Howrah Warriors, ServoTech Siliguri Strikers, Harbour Diamonds, Shrachi Rarh Tigers, Lux-Shyam Kolkata Royal Tigers, Murshidabad Kings and Rashmi Medinipur Wizards.  

CAB Office bearers led by President Snehasish Ganguly, Vice President Amalendu Biswas, Secretary Naresh Ojha, Treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty, Joint Secretary Debabrata Das along with India cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, women’s cricket icon Jhulan Goswami were present for the draft. Chairpersons of various CAB committees, former international players, former office bearers and Apex Council Members were also present.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: A total of 128 women players were drafted from a pool of 188 cricketers in the second edition of the Bengal Pro T20 League at a glitzy ceremony at a city hotel on Monday.

The players were picked by the eight franchisees namely Sobisco Smashers Malda, Adamas Howrah Warriors, ServoTech Siliguri Strikers, Harbour Diamonds, Rarh Tigers Burdwan| Birbhum, Lux-Shyam Kolkata Tigers, Murshidabad Kueens and Reshmi Medinipur Wizards.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Cricket fans across Bengal, it's time to rejoice as The Cricket Association of Bengal(CAB) announces the return of the Bengal Pro T20 League.

After the grand success of the inaugural edition of the franchise League, the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 is set to start from May 16 onwards with the Womens tournament followed by the mens competition from June 4 onwards.

Just like last year, eight franchises - Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, Harbour Diamonds, Rashmi Medinipur Wizards, Servotec Siliguri Strikers, Shrachi Rarh Tigers, Adamas Howrah Warriors, Murshidabad Kings & Kueens and Sobisco Smashers Malda will give it their all on the field to bag the Bengal Pro T20 crown.

*Women’s PGT 2025: Sneha Singh goes on birdie spree to win second leg of WPGT*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Sneha Singh shot 3-under 67, the best round of the week, to total 4-under 206 and won by eight shots over the more experienced Vani Kapoor (74), who had four bogeys and no birdies. Sneha Singh overcame a horrific start to produce a brilliant run of seven birdies in the final round to clinch the second leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club here on Friday.

The 20-year-old from Hyderabad shot 3-under 67, the best round of the week, to total 4-under 206 and won by eight shots over the more experienced Vani Kapoor (74), who had four bogeys and no birdies.

Sneha started the final day with a one-shot lead, but both she and Vani bogeyed the first, third and fourth.

However, Sneha recovered with birdies on the fifth, seventh and eighth to turn in even par.

In contrast, Vani had only pars and from being one behind at the start of the final round, she was four behind Sneha with nine holes to go.

On the back nine, Sneha birdied three times in a row from the 11th before dropping a shot on the 14th.

She quickly made up with a final birdie on the par-4 16th for a 67.

Vani dropped a shot on the 11th and parred the rest. Vani’s 74 gave her the second-best aggregate at 4-over 214.

Jasmine Shekar, two-time winner last season, shot 1-over 71 that included three birdies on the trot from the 11th to the 13th.

Overall, Jasmine had four birdies against five bogeys. She finished third at 8-over 218.

Anvitha Narender, who played in the final group with Sneha and Vani, carded 2-over 72 that included two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey on Par-3 eighth to finish in a tie for third with Jasmine.

Kriti Chowhan (73) and Vidhatri Urs (71) were fifth and sixth at 221 and 225.

Amandeep Drall, who had two disappointing days with 79-79, made up with a superb 2-under 68, one of the only two under-par scores of the day.

It gave Amandeep, who is planning to play a lot of events on the Ladies European Tour, a big boost. She totalled 226 and was tied seventh.

The winner of the first leg this season, Rhea Purvi Sarvanan (74) was eighth, while Durga Nittur (77) and Ravjot K Dosanjh (83) were tied ninth to complete the top 10.

Among other well-known names Shweta Mansingh (75) and Khushi Khanijau (81) were Tied-11th and Neha Tripathi (80) was T-15th.

*First-ever CAB U-16 Girl's School tournament gets underway*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: CAB President Snehasish Ganguly and India legend Jhulan Goswami wished all the players good luck as the first ever CAB Under-16 Girl’s School Cricket Tournament featuring eight schools got underway at the Rajasthan Ground on Tuesday.

"It is indeed a moment of great joy that women's cricket in Bengal is scaling higher. From junior to senior level, each and every team has impressed this season. The U-16 Girl's School Cricket Tournament for the first time will boost women's cricket. I wish all the players the best for the tournament. Jhulan is here to inspire all the girls. She is a legend, and all the youngsters look up to her as inspiration," Mr Ganguly said during the inauguration ceremony.

Jhulan said, "I am happy to be here for the tournament. Just like Bengal Women’s cricket is showing huge improvement, this U-16 Girl's School tournament will also help create talent for the future. I wish all the players the best. This season, every Bengal Women’s team has performed well, and now the hope rests on our Under-19 and Under-23 team who have made the knockouts."

Also present for the ocassion were CAB Joint Secretary Debabrata Das; CAB Treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty; Tour, Fixture and Technical Committee Chairman Sanjay Das, Observers Committee Chairman Srimanta Kumar Mallick along with former and senior Women's cricketers.

The opening day will be a double-header clash with South Point High School taking on The Heritage School at the Rajasthan Ground, while Purwanchal Vidyamandir will face Rabindra Path Bhavan Academy at AIS Alampur Ground.

The One-Day League-cum-knockout tournament, featuring eight teams, has been divided into two groups. After the league stage, the top two teams from each group will progress into the semifinals with its winners facing each other in the summit clash.

*Khabar kolkata sports Desk:* Sudip Kumar Gharami (101 not out) and Wriddhiman Saha (63 not out) displayed a brilliant effort with the bat as Bengal's Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Karnataka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ended in a draw on Friday.

Bengal bagged three points from the match, thanks to their first innings lead against Karnataka. After four matches, Bengal have eight points.

Bengal skipper Anustup Majumdar was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant 101 in the first innings.

After posting 301 in their first innings, Bengal bundled out Karnataka for 221.

In their second innings, Bengal posted 283/5 decl to hand a challenging target to Karnataka.

The hosts, in their second innings, were 110/3 at the end of the fourth and final day's play. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal bagged the three wickets for Bengal.

Top 8 teams to clash in quarterfinals of CAB Inter District Senior T20 meet

*Khabar kolkata sports Desk:*  After a hard-fought league-stage battle, the top eight teams of the CAB Inter District Senior Men's Open Tournament will clash in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Prior to the start of the J.C. Mukherjee T20 tournament, all the top players got a chance to prepare themselves perfectly in the Inter District T20 meet. All players were thrilled to get their dress-rehersal for the J.C Mukherjee meet done.

In the last-eight clash of the Inter District T20 meet, North 24-PGS Champs will take on South 24-PGS Tiger, Gour Badsha Malda will face Nadia Super Dazzler, Birbhum Ironman will play against Howrah Diamonds while Bipabi Chandernagore will take on Burdwan Blues.

The semifinals will take place on Sunday while the final and third-place match will take place on Tuesday.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Cricket fans across Bengal, it's time to rejoice as The Cricket Association of Bengal(CAB) announces the return of the Bengal Pro T20 League.

After the grand success of the inaugural edition of the franchise League, the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 is set to start from May 16 onwards with the Womens tournament followed by the mens competition from June 4 onwards.

Just like last year, eight franchises - Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, Harbour Diamonds, Rashmi Medinipur Wizards, Servotec Siliguri Strikers, Shrachi Rarh Tigers, Adamas Howrah Warriors, Murshidabad Kings & Kueens and Sobisco Smashers Malda will give it their all on the field to bag the Bengal Pro T20 crown.

*Women’s PGT 2025: Sneha Singh goes on birdie spree to win second leg of WPGT*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Sneha Singh shot 3-under 67, the best round of the week, to total 4-under 206 and won by eight shots over the more experienced Vani Kapoor (74), who had four bogeys and no birdies. Sneha Singh overcame a horrific start to produce a brilliant run of seven birdies in the final round to clinch the second leg of the Hero Women’s Pro Golf Tour at the Tollygunge Club here on Friday.

The 20-year-old from Hyderabad shot 3-under 67, the best round of the week, to total 4-under 206 and won by eight shots over the more experienced Vani Kapoor (74), who had four bogeys and no birdies.

Sneha started the final day with a one-shot lead, but both she and Vani bogeyed the first, third and fourth.

However, Sneha recovered with birdies on the fifth, seventh and eighth to turn in even par.

In contrast, Vani had only pars and from being one behind at the start of the final round, she was four behind Sneha with nine holes to go.

On the back nine, Sneha birdied three times in a row from the 11th before dropping a shot on the 14th.

She quickly made up with a final birdie on the par-4 16th for a 67.

Vani dropped a shot on the 11th and parred the rest. Vani’s 74 gave her the second-best aggregate at 4-over 214.

Jasmine Shekar, two-time winner last season, shot 1-over 71 that included three birdies on the trot from the 11th to the 13th.

Overall, Jasmine had four birdies against five bogeys. She finished third at 8-over 218.

Anvitha Narender, who played in the final group with Sneha and Vani, carded 2-over 72 that included two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey on Par-3 eighth to finish in a tie for third with Jasmine.

Kriti Chowhan (73) and Vidhatri Urs (71) were fifth and sixth at 221 and 225.

Amandeep Drall, who had two disappointing days with 79-79, made up with a superb 2-under 68, one of the only two under-par scores of the day.

It gave Amandeep, who is planning to play a lot of events on the Ladies European Tour, a big boost. She totalled 226 and was tied seventh.

The winner of the first leg this season, Rhea Purvi Sarvanan (74) was eighth, while Durga Nittur (77) and Ravjot K Dosanjh (83) were tied ninth to complete the top 10.

Among other well-known names Shweta Mansingh (75) and Khushi Khanijau (81) were Tied-11th and Neha Tripathi (80) was T-15th.

*First-ever CAB U-16 Girl's School tournament gets underway*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: CAB President Snehasish Ganguly and India legend Jhulan Goswami wished all the players good luck as the first ever CAB Under-16 Girl’s School Cricket Tournament featuring eight schools got underway at the Rajasthan Ground on Tuesday.

"It is indeed a moment of great joy that women's cricket in Bengal is scaling higher. From junior to senior level, each and every team has impressed this season. The U-16 Girl's School Cricket Tournament for the first time will boost women's cricket. I wish all the players the best for the tournament. Jhulan is here to inspire all the girls. She is a legend, and all the youngsters look up to her as inspiration," Mr Ganguly said during the inauguration ceremony.

Jhulan said, "I am happy to be here for the tournament. Just like Bengal Women’s cricket is showing huge improvement, this U-16 Girl's School tournament will also help create talent for the future. I wish all the players the best. This season, every Bengal Women’s team has performed well, and now the hope rests on our Under-19 and Under-23 team who have made the knockouts."

Also present for the ocassion were CAB Joint Secretary Debabrata Das; CAB Treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty; Tour, Fixture and Technical Committee Chairman Sanjay Das, Observers Committee Chairman Srimanta Kumar Mallick along with former and senior Women's cricketers.

The opening day will be a double-header clash with South Point High School taking on The Heritage School at the Rajasthan Ground, while Purwanchal Vidyamandir will face Rabindra Path Bhavan Academy at AIS Alampur Ground.

The One-Day League-cum-knockout tournament, featuring eight teams, has been divided into two groups. After the league stage, the top two teams from each group will progress into the semifinals with its winners facing each other in the summit clash.

*Dominant Bengal off to a flying start in Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Bengal began their Senior Women's One-Day Trophy campaign with a dominant eight-wicket victory over Pondicherry in Sultanpur, Haryana, on Wednesday.

Mita Paul (52 not out, 2-23), Dhara Gujjar (53 not out, 1-0), Tanushree Sarkar (2-22), Saika Ishaque (2-15) were the star performers for Bengal.

Batting first, Pondicherry were bundled out for just 119 in 45.2 overs. Aruna Barman, Tithi Das, Monika Mal also bagged a wicket each for Bengal.

In reply, Dhara and Mita, with an unbeaten 98-run stand for the third wicket, helped Bengal chase down the target comfortably, scoring 123/2 in 24.5 overs.

Gharami (101), Wriddhiman (63) impress as Bengal vs Karnataka Ranji match ends in draw

*Khabar kolkata sports Desk:* Sudip Kumar Gharami (101 not out) and Wriddhiman Saha (63 not out) displayed a brilliant effort with the bat as Bengal's Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Karnataka at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru ended in a draw on Friday.

Bengal bagged three points from the match, thanks to their first innings lead against Karnataka. After four matches, Bengal have eight points.

Bengal skipper Anustup Majumdar was awarded the player of the match for his brilliant 101 in the first innings.

After posting 301 in their first innings, Bengal bundled out Karnataka for 221.

In their second innings, Bengal posted 283/5 decl to hand a challenging target to Karnataka.

The hosts, in their second innings, were 110/3 at the end of the fourth and final day's play. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal bagged the three wickets for Bengal.

Top 8 teams to clash in quarterfinals of CAB Inter District Senior T20 meet

*Khabar kolkata sports Desk:*  After a hard-fought league-stage battle, the top eight teams of the CAB Inter District Senior Men's Open Tournament will clash in the quarterfinals on Saturday.

Prior to the start of the J.C. Mukherjee T20 tournament, all the top players got a chance to prepare themselves perfectly in the Inter District T20 meet. All players were thrilled to get their dress-rehersal for the J.C Mukherjee meet done.

In the last-eight clash of the Inter District T20 meet, North 24-PGS Champs will take on South 24-PGS Tiger, Gour Badsha Malda will face Nadia Super Dazzler, Birbhum Ironman will play against Howrah Diamonds while Bipabi Chandernagore will take on Burdwan Blues.

The semifinals will take place on Sunday while the final and third-place match will take place on Tuesday.
