Khabar kolkata sports Desk: India hosting reigning World Test Champions South Africa at the iconic Eden Gardens in the first Test on November 14 will be no less than an exciting and nail-biting match.

With South Africa winning the historic title after beating Australia in the final, the excitement here in Kolkata has already scaled sky-high with the mega match coming up just in five months’ time.

Interestingly, this match between India and South Africa, was originally scheduled to take place in New Delhi on Nov 14 and Eden Gardens was scheduled to host West Indies in the second Test on October 10.

But CAB President Snehasish Ganguly took the initiative to speak to BCCI, persuading the Apex Body of cricket to allow Eden Gardens host India vs South Africa in November.

Eventually, BCCI swapped Kolkata Eden Gardens’ and New Delhi Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium’s allocated Test matches against West Indies and South Africa respectively during India’s upcoming home season.

The Test swap finally turned out to be a mega hit for Eden Gardens with the news of South Africa clinching the World Test Championship.

*Campus Bengal Pro T20 League Set to Kick Off Today at Eden Gardens*

Sports Desk : The stage is set for an electrifying start to the 2nd season of the Campus Bengal Pro T20 League, with a grand opening ceremony at Eden Gardens on Wednesday, 11th June 2025. The festivities begin with a dazzling performance by singing sensation Sunidhi Chauhan, followed by the much-anticipated opening clash between Sobisco Smashers Malda and Murshidabad Kings.

This season, Campus joins the league as the Official Title Sponsor, adding further energy and style to Bengal’s premier T20 competition.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: With an aim to groom the youngsters for the next season, the Cricket Association of Bengal is currently conducting a five-day net trials for the Under-16 players at the JU, 2nd campus Ground Salt Lake.

The trials, where nearly 34 talented cricketers are participating, began on Saturday and will continue till Wednesday.

The players, who will be groomed and trained by Bengal’s top coaches and professionals, will undergo more than two hours of training each day.

*Md Sporting Club crowned champions of Women’s Club League T20 meet*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Md Sporting Club clinched the CAB Women’s Club Cricket League T20 title after a thumping 46-run victory over Aryan Club via higher run rate in the summit clash at the Eden Gardens.

Md Sporting Club’s Adrija Sarkar was awarded the player of the final for her unbeaten 59 off 56 balls.

India legend Sourav Ganguly, heaped praise on the young girls saying, “I congratulate Md Sporting for being the champions. Aryan Club also played well. All the girls must use this platform and help Bengal and Indian cricket scale higher. My best wishes to all the young girls.”

Women’s cricket icon Jhulan Goswami said, “I congratulate Md Sporting for being the champions. Adrija as always was consistent with the bat. Aryan Club must take this as a learning experience for their next matches. I wish all the girls the best for the future.”

Batting first, Md Sporting Club posted 137/6 in 20 overs. Mita Paul scored 24. Sushmita Ganguly bagged 2 for 35 while Sritama Nandi claimed one wicket.

In reply, chasing the target, Aryan Club were 91/6 in 15.3 overs when rain stopped play. With the weather showing no signs of improvement, Md Sporting Club were declared winners by virtue of higher run rate.

Jhumia Khatun top-scored with unbeaten 29. Protyusha Dey (3-15), Bishakha Das (2-31) and Debalina Bhattacharjee (1-2) impressed with the ball for Md Sporting Club.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk : A brilliant bowling effort put Cathedral Mission High School in total control against St Johns Public School at the end of the first day in the final of the Inter School Under-15 Cricket Tournament Mayor’s Cup at the JU, 2nd Campus Ground, Salt Lake on Wednesday.

Chasing 185 to win, St Johns Public School lost their first four batsmen for just 2 runs inside 3 overs.

At stumps on Day 1, St Johns Public School were struggling at 36/6 in 12 overs. Pragyamoy Chakraborty (4-15) and Akash Yadav (2-15) were brilliant with the ball for Cathedral Mission High School.

Earlier, put into bat, Cathedral Mission High School were bowled out for 184 in 73.2 overs. Subhra Kamal Halder (38) and Akash (35) were the pick of the batters.

For St Johns Public School, Piyush Karan (4-68) and Ayush Kr Prasad (3-29) were superb with the ball.

 Khabar kolkata sports Desk : A total of 802 cricketers were drafted in the mega men’s draft of the Bengal Pro T20 League Season 2 at a glitzy ceremony at a city hotel on Monday.

The players were picked by the eight franchisees namely Sobisco Smashers Malda, Adamas Howrah Warriors, ServoTech Siliguri Strikers, Harbour Diamonds, Shrachi Rarh Tigers, Lux-Shyam Kolkata Royal Tigers, Murshidabad Kings and Rashmi Medinipur Wizards.  

CAB Office bearers led by President Snehasish Ganguly, Vice President Amalendu Biswas, Secretary Naresh Ojha, Treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty, Joint Secretary Debabrata Das along with India cricket legend Sourav Ganguly, women’s cricket icon Jhulan Goswami were present for the draft. Chairpersons of various CAB committees, former international players, former office bearers and Apex Council Members were also present.

*Mohun Bagan crowned champions of Junior U-15 Tournament*

 Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Mohun Bagan AC displayed a dominant all-round performance to outclass Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy by 7 wickets in the summit clash on Monday to emerge champions of CAB Junior Under-15 Tournament. 

 

Chasing just 79 to win on Day 2, Mohun Bagan went over the line comfortably, scoring 81/3 in 14.3 overs at the JU 2nd Campus Ground Salt Lake.

Ditiraj Nath led from the front with a match-winning unbeaten 42 off 40 balls for Mohun Bagan. 

Triparna Samanta, Srayan Chaudhuri, Sachin bagged one wicket each for Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy. 

Earlier on Day 1, Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy were bundled out for 78.

For Mohun Bagan, Md Jishan Khan (3-33), Aritra Debnath (2-20) were the star performers with the ball.

The match was reduced to 65 overs-a-side due to rain.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Aryan Club outclassed Mohun Bagan AC by 47 runs in the summit clash on Tuesday to emerge champions of CAB Women’s Club Cricket League One-Day Tournament.

Opting to bat, after the match was reduced to 25-overs-a-side, Aryan Club posted a challenging 175/4 in 25 overs at the 22 Yards Sports School Ground.

Tanushree Sarkar (76 off 50), Priyanka Bala (43 not out), Dyuti Paul (23) and Jhumia Khatun (18) impressed with the bat.

For Mohun Bagan, Diya Nandi bagged 2 for 38 while Priti Mahata and Aradhya Kumari Tiwary claimed one each.

Chasing the target, Mohun Bagan were bowled out for 128 in 25 overs. Ankita Chakraborty top-scored with 42 runs.

*CAB honours MS Dhoni with specially designed Eden Gardens souvenir*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: The Cricket Association of Bengal honoured India's cricket icon MS Dhoni on his illustrious career and immense contribution to the game by presenting the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman with a specially designed Eden Gardens souvenir. 

CAB President Snehasish Ganguly handed over the specially designed souvenir to Dhoni after the IPL match between KKR vs CSK at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday. 

Also present for the occasion were CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha along with a host of other CAB officials and members. 

The specially designed Eden Gardens souvenir has a list of all the international matches hosted by the iconic ground since 1934 till date.

 Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Mohun Bagan AC outclassed Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy by 43 runs in the summit clash on Monday to emerge champions of Ambar Roy Sub Junior Under-13 One-Day tournament.

The young cricketers received a big confidence boost as India legend Sourav Ganguly made his presence felt at the 22 Yards Sports Ground to motivate and inspire the players from both the teams.  

Batting first, Mohun Bagan posted 211/7 in 45 overs. Subarna Dey (66) and Aritra Pal (40 not out) impressed with the bat. Aranya Sarkar and Souvagya Das bagged 2 wickets each.

In reply, Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy fell short, scoring 168/8 in 45 overs. Sk Atif Arman scored 44. Ajit Yadav was the pick of the Mohun Bagan bowlers bagging 2 for 18.

*Mohun Bagan crowned champions of Junior U-15 Tournament*

 Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Mohun Bagan AC displayed a dominant all-round performance to outclass Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy by 7 wickets in the summit clash on Monday to emerge champions of CAB Junior Under-15 Tournament. 

 

Chasing just 79 to win on Day 2, Mohun Bagan went over the line comfortably, scoring 81/3 in 14.3 overs at the JU 2nd Campus Ground Salt Lake.

Ditiraj Nath led from the front with a match-winning unbeaten 42 off 40 balls for Mohun Bagan. 

Triparna Samanta, Srayan Chaudhuri, Sachin bagged one wicket each for Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy. 

Earlier on Day 1, Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy were bundled out for 78.

For Mohun Bagan, Md Jishan Khan (3-33), Aritra Debnath (2-20) were the star performers with the ball.

The match was reduced to 65 overs-a-side due to rain.

*Aryan Club crowned champions of Women’s Club League One-Day meet*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Aryan Club outclassed Mohun Bagan AC by 47 runs in the summit clash on Tuesday to emerge champions of CAB Women’s Club Cricket League One-Day Tournament.

Opting to bat, after the match was reduced to 25-overs-a-side, Aryan Club posted a challenging 175/4 in 25 overs at the 22 Yards Sports School Ground.

Tanushree Sarkar (76 off 50), Priyanka Bala (43 not out), Dyuti Paul (23) and Jhumia Khatun (18) impressed with the bat.

For Mohun Bagan, Diya Nandi bagged 2 for 38 while Priti Mahata and Aradhya Kumari Tiwary claimed one each.

Chasing the target, Mohun Bagan were bowled out for 128 in 25 overs. Ankita Chakraborty top-scored with 42 runs.

For Aryan Club, Sritama Nandi (4-29), Jhumia (2-12) and Sinjini Sarkar (2-28) were the pick of the bowlers while Sushmita Ganguly and Tanushree claimed one each.

*CAB honours MS Dhoni with specially designed Eden Gardens souvenir*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: The Cricket Association of Bengal honoured India's cricket icon MS Dhoni on his illustrious career and immense contribution to the game by presenting the veteran wicketkeeper-batsman with a specially designed Eden Gardens souvenir. 

CAB President Snehasish Ganguly handed over the specially designed souvenir to Dhoni after the IPL match between KKR vs CSK at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday. 

Also present for the occasion were CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha along with a host of other CAB officials and members. 

The specially designed Eden Gardens souvenir has a list of all the international matches hosted by the iconic ground since 1934 till date.

*Mohun Bagan crowned champions of Ambar Roy U-13 meet*

 Khabar kolkata sports Desk: Mohun Bagan AC outclassed Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy by 43 runs in the summit clash on Monday to emerge champions of Ambar Roy Sub Junior Under-13 One-Day tournament.

The young cricketers received a big confidence boost as India legend Sourav Ganguly made his presence felt at the 22 Yards Sports Ground to motivate and inspire the players from both the teams.  

Batting first, Mohun Bagan posted 211/7 in 45 overs. Subarna Dey (66) and Aritra Pal (40 not out) impressed with the bat. Aranya Sarkar and Souvagya Das bagged 2 wickets each.

In reply, Mainland Sambaran Cricket Academy fell short, scoring 168/8 in 45 overs. Sk Atif Arman scored 44. Ajit Yadav was the pick of the Mohun Bagan bowlers bagging 2 for 18.
