*CAB hosts Annual Award Ceremony in grand fashion*

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: In a glittering Annual Awards Ceremony on Saturday, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) handed the Kartick Bose Lifetime Achievement Award to former cricketers Arup Bhattacharjee and Shyama Shaw.
India and Bengal fast bowler Akash Deep received a special award for his performance in the recent Test series against in England while Abhimanyu Easwaran also received a special award for being an important member in the India Test squad.
The sparkling ceremony, which was held at the gorgeous Dhono Dhanyo auditorium, saw CAB President Snehasish Ganguly rendering some inspirational words for the Bengal cricketers.
“It is a special day for all the cricketers of Bengal. It’s a day of recognition for their hard work and also reward for their sacrifice they have done throughout the season. I would like to congratulate all the individuals who have received an award this evening for their performance in the season 2024-2025. I wish everyone the best for the upcoming season,” Mr Ganguly said.
Alongside CAB President Mr Ganguly, CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha, CAB Vice President Amalendu Biswas, CAB Treasurer Prabir Chakrabarty were present. Also present were former BCCI and CAB President Sourav Ganguly, former CAB office bearers, Chairperson of various CAB committees, former international players, Apex Council Members and members of all affiliated units.
Also present was Kolkata Mayor Janab Firhad Hakim who was the chief guest for the Awards. West Bengal Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Aroop Biswas and Member Mayor-In-Council Kolkata Municipal Corporation Debashish Kumar were also present.
Arup Bhattacharjee, who received the lifetime achievement award, was a left-handed batsman and slow left arm orthodox bowler, who played 48 first-class matches for Bengal.
Thanking the CAB for bestowing the prestigious award, Bhattacharjee said, “It is an emotional moment for me. I am honoured to receive this award from CAB. I want to thank everyone involved in my life for being a part of my cricketing journey. There are lots of memories. Thank you again."
Shyama Shaw, who received the lifetime achievement award, was a left-handed batsman and a left-arm seam bowler. She represented India in three Tests and five ODIs.
“I want to thank CAB for honouring me with this award. It has been a long journey for me from my the start of my cricketing career. Thank you again," Shaw said.
Akash Deep, after receiving the award, said, "I would like to thank the CAB for this award. This Association has helped me in my cricketing journey immensely and helped me where I am today. I want to thank each and every one at CAB."
Sourav Ganguly praising the award winners said, "I would like to congratulate all the winners. Each and every player has worked hard to reach this stage. I wish everyone the best for the upcoming season."
Bengal Umpire Abhijit Bhattacharya was handed a special award for his contribution as an umpire not only in Bengal but also in Indian cricket, which includes Women’s Premier League and Indian Premier League.
The Bengal Under-15 women’s team and support staff were also felicitated for being champions in the BCCI One-Day tournament.
Ratan Chowdhury, Rabi Shankar Chakraborty and Dhiman Biswas also received special awards for their immense contribution to Bengal local cricket as an umpire.
CAB Hony Secretary Naresh Ojha, during his speech, said, "Thank you all for being here for the Awards Ceremony. I want to thank CAB President Snehasish Ganguly, other office bearers, and members of media for being here for the ocassion. My congratulations to all the winners."
The winners who were awarded for their excellent performance on the field last season were – Sudip Kr Gharami, who was awarded with the Cricketer of the Year while Shahbaz Ahamad was awarded the Gentleman Cricketer of the Year.
Sayan Ghosh won the Best Fast Bowler of the Year award while Sudip Chatterjee was awarded for being the highest run getter for Bengal in Ranji Trophy. Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal was awarded for being the highest wicket taker for Bengal in Ranji Trophy.
Tanushree Sarkar received the Best Senior Women’s Cricketer of the Year award. Rahul Prasad received the Best Men’s U-23 Cricketer of the Year award. Dyuti Paul received the Best Women’s U-23 Cricketer of the Year award. Vishal Bhati received the Best Men’s U-19 Cricketer of the Year award. Yudhajit Guha received the Best Men’s U-19 Bowler of the Year award.
Ipshita Mondal received the Best Women’s U-19 Cricketer of the Year award. Sachin Yadav received the Best Men’s U-16 Cricketer of the Year award. Sandipta Patra received the Best Women’s U-15 Cricketer of the Year award.
Arin Roy received the Best Men’s Senior District Cricketer of the Year award.
A total of around 206 awards were given in the evening.
