Why your resume (mostly) doesn’t matter - Nishtha Desai

TEDx Talk | YoutubeMr. Sarabjeet Sachar, founder and CEO of Aspiration Jobs, recently gave an inspiring TEDx talk during TEDxGoldenBridge Studio, sharing new ideas on how value-based connections play a critical role in professional development. The speaker told us that success often does not hinge on resumes or traditional job applications, but rather on building valuable, meaningful relationships that position one on the right path for opportunities to knock.

TEDxGoldenBridge Studio, themed “Semicolon; Pausing to Connect,” brings together a diverse array of speakers and curators to explore the power of intentional pauses and meaningful connections in our lives; has the reputation for providing a platform to ideas that are worth spreading, gave the best platform to this thought-provoking presentation. The proceedings were efficiently planned by Harsh Thakkar (Licensee), Sahaj Tyagi (Co-licensee), Siya Kachhela (Head Curator), Vraj Dangarwala (First Curator), and Yug Desai (Post Production Lead) so that every moment of the event was memorable for everyone in attendance.

The author, Nishtha Desai emphasizes the significance of forming genuine relationships during one's career path. According to her, the emphasis must be on proving oneself, making personal and professional values align with the company mission, and being around people with the same intentions. For her, a career founded on sincere connections is more fulfilling and successful than one focused only on resumes and automated processes.

Crux of the Topic

In his presentation, Sarabjeet Sachar brought forth the revolutionary idea of value-based relationships, breaking from the conventional dependence on resumes in job searching. He identified how the dependence on resumes generated by artificial intelligence and generic keywords tends to derail the recruitment process, making it increasingly difficult for the candidates to get noticed. The actual key to professional success, he contended, is being a problem-solver, not merely a set of credentials.

Details

It started at the age of 21, when a newly graduated student was commuting on a local train in Mumbai. Enthusiastically talking about a dream to have a career in sales, this person was excited about the prospect of meeting people, knowing their problems, and providing tailored solutions. Unaware to them, a regional sales manager from a major pharmaceutical firm happened to overhear the conversation. Influenced by their passion and commitment in their words, the manager went up to the graduate and gave them his business card, inviting them in for an interview. No resume was required; it was the passion and commitment that got them the job.

This was the starting point of a successful career in sales, where the person rose through the ranks to senior levels in well-known companies like Times of India, Indian Express, The Hindu, India Today, and ZTV Network. In all these shifts, the emphasis remained on demonstrating their worth and love, instead of talking of a resume.

The central takeaway here is that the traditional resume may open doors, but it’s the authentic value you bring that will truly walk you through them. Research and preparation are key. Much like a business consultant, job seekers should approach potential employers by understanding their needs and positioning themselves as solution providers. This requires a shift in mindset—viewing the job search process not as a race to submit applications, but as an opportunity to build meaningful, value-driven connections.

The presentation touched on some of the real-life scenarios in which professionals constructed their careers by intentionally concentrating on value-based network construction. Sarabjeet Sachar narrated examples of people such as Amit and Simon, who were able to switch into new fields and gain leadership positions by matching their capabilities with the precise requirements of their potential employers.

This creative strategy is opposite to the conventional thinking of writing a resume based on a job description. Sachar emphasized that employers are not seeking flawless resumes but those who can provide solutions to their issues. By establishing these connections via networking and reciprocal value, professionals can tap into job opportunities that are not listed on conventional job boards.

Conclusion

As Sarabjeet Sachar finished speaking, he challenged the audience to change their career development mindset. Rather than just concentrating on resumes, professionals need to work towards building deep, genuine relationships founded on common values. These will open doors to opportunities and drive career progression in a more profound manner.

The TEDxGoldenBridge Studio event gave a new insight into job seeking and career development, urging working professionals to aim at establishing value-based relationships to thrive in the competitive job market of today.

How to recognize fertility issues early advice from experts.

Fertility issues have been on the rise and are something that is coming out for open discussion. However, there are still several couples and individuals who hesitate when it comes to visiting a fertility doctor.

Being aware enough to pay close attention to the early signs of fertility issues makes it a lot easier to deal with and eventually get rid of them (if medically possible). Timely medical intervention is the safest way out and there.

Dr Pooja Bajaj Wadhwa, Senior Consultant- IVF & Reproductive Medicine at Ferticity IVF & Fertility Clinics, highlights the importance of having a proactive approach. “Fertility issues may not always show obvious alarming symptoms, but there are subtle signs you mustn’t ignore,” she says.

When should you start paying attention?

It’s not true that problems of fertility come with ageing, it largely depends on your overall well-being and how well you are taking care of your sexual health and fertility. The question is how to know it’s time to get into the details.

Dr. Bajaj explains it in the easiest way possible:

● Irregular period cycle: A disturbed menstrual cycle is not only inconvenient but also a sign that hormones might not be in balance. This often disrupts ovulation, making it harder to conceive.

● Severe pain during menstruation: Intense cramps and abdominal pain that make it difficult to carry on with daily routine is also a big alarming sign that something is off with your sexual health and fertility. It's important to consult a doctor if this happens regularly.

● Problems in conceiving: If you’ve been trying for a year (or six months if you’re over 35) without success, consulting a fertility doctor is necessary.

● Multiple miscarriages: Experiencing recurrent miscarriages is emotionally draining, and exhausting and indicates an underlying condition that needs attention and care.

● Other health clues: Female fertility issues like PCOS, endometriosis, or even unexplained weight gain can quietly impact your fertility.

Dr. Bajaj emphasizes, “Both partners need to be involved. Fertility issues are not limited to women. Men can go through issues like low sperm count or motility issues, which we can address with the right guidance.”

Why does early detection matter a lot?

Addressing fertility concerns early doesn’t just improve the chances of successful treatment—it saves time, and emotional energy, and opens up more options.

“Every couple’s situation is different and requires a personalized treatment plan,” says Dr. Bajaj. “The sooner we find out the root of the problem, the more tailored and effective our approach can be.”

Ferticity IVF and Fertility Clinics blend comprehensive care with advanced procedures such as IVF (in-vitro fertilization) and ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection) to make it possible for couples to achieve a pregnancy.

What can you do to better manage fertility issues?

Making the right lifestyle changes also greatly influences your fertility and overall health. Following a nutritious, balanced diet balances hormones, while a regular exercise routine helps with healthy body weight, which is crucial in fertility. Giving up smoking and limiting alcohol improves both egg and sperm quality. Another important aspect is stress management given the fast pace of life these days. Continuous high-stress levels affect ovulation and sperm health. Baby steps like these create a huge impact.

It’s never too early to get medical help

One of the biggest misconceptions about fertility is that you need to wait until you’re actively trying to conceive to see a specialist. Dr Pooja Bajaj Wadhwa encourages couples to be proactive. “If you feel something is off or have concerns, don’t ignore them. Fertility is time-sensitive, but it’s also filled with possibilities.”

Parenthood is a wholesome experience, and you don’t have to go through the challenges alone. Dr. Bajaj along with her team at Ferticity IVF & Fertility Clinics extends expert care and support to such couples wanting to consider advanced reproductive techniques and explore their chances of pregnancy.

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: In one of the most consistent performances in women’s cricket history, Bengal chased down a massive target once again to outclass defending champions Railways by six wickets in the semifinal clash in Rajkot on Friday to storm into the final of the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy.

After scripting a record in the quarterfinals by chasing down a mammoth target, Bengal has done it again to chase down a 300-plus score in the last-four clash.

Set a challenging target of 301 in the semifinal, Bengal went over the line comfortably, scoring 301/4 in 49 overs.

“I wanted to follow the basics. We were looking to take the game deep and get close to the target. The pitch was good for batting and for a set batter it was an advantage. My partnership with Mita helped us a lot,” Dhara said.

Bengal will next face Madhya Pradesh in the summit clash on Monday. Bengal Women have thus made it to back-to-back finals in the season after making the summit clash in T20 Trophy earlier.

Sports News

Khabar kolkata sports Desk: In one of most thrilling and successful run-chases in history of women’s cricket, Bengal Senior Women’s team has entered the record books, chasing down a mammoth target to stun Haryana by 5 wickets in the quarterfinal match to enter the semifinals of the domestic One-Day Trophy on Monday.

Set a massive target of 390 in 50 overs, Bengal went over the line comfortably, scoring 390/5 in 49.1 overs.

Tanushree Sarkar was the player of the match for her superb all-round show, bagging 3 for 56 followed by a match-winning 113 off 83 balls as Bengal entered the last-four stage in style.

“Yesterday during the pre-match meeting, I told the girls that the pitch will be batting friendly and no one should panic at any point during the match. Today during the innings break, I told the batters, have faith and belief in yourselves and we can do it. It was an unbelievable victory. To chase down a massive total like this, is special,” Bengal head coach Probal Dutta said.

India legend and team mentor Jhulan Goswami heaped praise on the players saying, “It is a fantastic win. To have the mindset of chasing down this massive target is brilliant. The girls believed in themselves and the win is truly special.”

*Bengal knocks out defending champs Railways, storms into final of Sr Women’s One-Day Trophy*

Dhara Gujjar was awarded the player of the match for her brilliant match-winning 123 off 123 balls. She smashed 16 boundaries. Mita Paul (76 off 66) and Tanushree Sarkar (35 off 47) also impressed with the bat.

Batting first, Railways posted 300/5 in 50 overs, thanks to C H Jhansi Lakshmi (120) and Nuzhat Parween (116).

Skipper Saika Ishaque bagged 3 for 48 for Bengal while Tanushree clinched one.

Chasing the target, Dhara and Sasthi Mondal (21) gave Bengal a fine start. Later on, Dhara and Mita added a superb 152 runs for the third wicket to take team closer to victory.

*Bengal in record books, chases down mammoth total to enter semifinals of Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy*

This is by far the highest successful chase in women’s List A cricket. The previous record was 309 by Northern Districts against Canterbury in 2019.

Priyanka Bala (88 not out off 81), Dhara Gujjar (69 off 49), Sasthi Mondal (52 off 29), Prativa Rana (28 off 26), Mita Paul (12, 1-63) and Hrishita Basu (11 not out) were the other star performers for Bengal.

Put into bat, skipper Shafali Verma smashed a brilliant 197 off 115 balls to help Haryana post a mammoth total.

In reply, Dhara and Sasthi gave Bengal a flying start. Despite losing both openers, Bengal batters never gave up, instead kept believing, as the team chased the target down with five balls to spare.
