मृतकों में इंदुशेखर की पत्नी सुनीता, सास रूपावती, साले शिवकुमार और शंकर, भाभियां दिव्या और नलिनी, और शिवकुमार का सात साल का बेटा पुनीत शामिल हैं।शुरुआती जांच के अनुसार, आरोपी इंदुशेखर ने इन हत्याओं की योजना बनाई थी। उसने सबसे पहले अपनी पत्नी को मारा। इसके बाद, उसने अपने दोनों सालों को पार्टी देने के बहाने घर बुलाया और उनकी हत्या कर दी। फिर उसने उनकी पत्नियों, अपनी सास और एक सात साल के बच्चे को भी मार डाला।

पुलिस के अनुसार, आरोपी शेखर उर्फ इंदुशेखर ने कथित तौर पर दो दिनों के भीतर अपने राजाजीनगर स्थित घर में एक-एक कर सात लोगों को बुलाया और सिलबट्टे के पत्थर से उनकी हत्या कर दी। आरोपी ने अपने साले शिवकुमार और शंकर को घर पर पार्टी देने के बहाने बुलाया था। आरोप है कि घर पहुंचने के बाद उसने दोनों की हत्या कर दी। इसी तरह उसने अपनी सास रूपावती और परिवार की अन्य महिलाओं को भी निशाना बनाया। इसके बाद शवों को अलग-अलग स्थानों पर ठिकाने लगाने का भी आरोप है। पुलिस अधिकारी का कहना है कि आरोपी ने 7 लोगों को मारने की बात कुबूल की है लेकिन अभी तक उन्हें सिर्फ एक ही शव मिला है।
